Cape Town Home Births – Is there anything more beautiful. Taryn has given birth to all 5 of her children naturally and always wanted a home birth and more specifically a water birth. I have photographed Taryn’s last two children’s birth and they could not have been more different. Baby number 3 was a very fast 30-minute labor and birth, from getting into the hospital until the baby was in her arms was 30 minutes. In fact, the midwife was still running the water when the baby was out, we all still laugh about it now. Then baby number 4 was a 24-hour birth and sadly during that time we were having water restrictions so no water birth for her but when the baby was born it was a beautiful moment together. So this baby was a toss-up and I knew I had to be ready for absolutely anything. So when I go the call I used my birth photographer’s intuition and went, As I arrived there was beautiful music playing, candles burning and Dad was filling the bath with warm water and getting everything ready. When the water was almost ready Tarryn needed to get in, after three contractions her voice changed, we shouted for hubby and the baby was out. What a rush. Again we giggle that Dad made the bath absolutely perfect by the time Tarryn had the baby, so she stayed, and then we got her out and comfy so she could feed. Always a special time to photograph a birth, especially here in Cape Town.
